The speeds on RipeMD160 will improve again once AMD fixes this confirmed bug: https://devgurus.amd.com/thread/166396 Currently I have to workaround this which makes the code a little bit slower.

personally I would not buy the hdXX50 versions. If you really want it as cheap as possible, the hd5870 is not bad.

you can take a look at the maskprocessor -q option, i think it's partially what you want to do. its not completely what you are looking for but maybe you can use it inside a script.
