Yes, it's true, it's slower, but not 50%. From my tests single hash MD5 with rule based attacks drop is around 25% Make sure to read the release notes. You need to prepare your dictionaries

We could do that, on the other hand it's not really required in case you do a full keyspace search. Simply xor the IV with the key once it's found, that will be the real key.
