The -S will be fast enough for WPA, but maybe not for md5crypt.

the benchmark speed is the real speed, the only difference is between the different attack-modes. when you do brute-force, you should get the same speed as with benchmark (do not forget -w 3).

The hash is somehow invalid, oclHashcat-plus wont even load it. Check out https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=example_hashes for a valid example

propably overheating problem, try to set your fans to 100% before starting hashcat

No, cudaHashcat* uses the driver API, which is completly different to the CUDA runtime
