oclHashcat-plus supports hd7970 only in beta 0.08 which is not publicy available, but oclHashcat-lite v0.09 does.

maybe your gpu is not supported by ati's opencl runtime?

i have the same card and it works fine on my computer. can you please paste the output of the CLInfo.exe program? it is part of the SDK installed here: ...\Documents\ATI Stream\samples\opencl\bin\x86...

sounds very simple. it is just opencl which is not working on your computer. i dont have winxp installed and i dont have any experience with opencl on winxp on ati. maybe some other user can help?

Sure, they would, I just did not expect someone still using 32 bit os. I can recompile them for 32 bit if you need.

There are reports about driver crashes on Windows. That makes Linux more stable to use, but the speed is the same.

OK, after some debugging we found out the problem is related to GPU_NUM_COMPUTE_RINGS which we originally added to workaround some Catalyst 14.12 problems. Since we dropped support for catalyst 14.12 ...

hd4xxx are not fully supported by OpenCL. Important instructions and fast memory (shared) access do not work. Even if it would work, it would be slow.

Yes, i had it tested by one User who already got one of the cards. It crashed for some unknown reason. That might be related to an old driver i used for compiling or not. I will try to get one of thes...

Maybe the hashes which you're trying to crack were not created on a server using utf8 but some codepage/iso encoding.

Hashcat uses binary loading of the wordlist, there's no functions used that somehow do a textual interpretation of the data (and automatically convert them). Therefore it makes absolute no sense what ...

fix your driver installation to get 2nd hd5970 working. do not enable crossfire.
