Post: RE: crashes under linux

with --gpu-loops 4096 you hold the kernel long time from returning to the OS. lower that number to maye 256 and try again if you can reproduce it.

There are reports about driver crashes on Windows. That makes Linux more stable to use, but the speed is the same.

1. oclHashcat-plus is limited to 15 chars. 2. hybrid is the wrong attack, you want to do a mask attack. Consolut the wiki again. 3. If you only need to iterated through 8 chars 0-F this is a 16^8 ke...

Yes, this GPU has very bad performance when it comes to crypto

Nope, there's no good AWS GPU. AWS GPU's are good for floating point operations (flops), not raw integer power. In crypto, we need raw integer power.

You can also restore from the original and see the status screen, in one of the last lines it say restore point. Copy that number and then run your original command again and add -s

Post: RE: Mask attack

you are right, it is not possible. the only exceptions is if you are on linux. in this case you could use a file-fifo and use maskprocessor as sender.

Its about GPU and Host memory. You need lots of GPU RAM for 0.08 to load multimillion hashlists.

Post: RE: DES-ECB: mask on plain text?

Yes, but we'd need to switch from encrypt to decrypt and then match out the bits you don't care about. So that's possible but requires a kernel rewrite
