2x5970 @820mhz gives same speed. 4xhd6950 1gb @900mhz same. 2x6990 @900mhz gives 8100+ ... So whats all about here? Your cards not give full potential as you should have about 8300mh/s on these clocks...

Random salt take much time for process restart. Possible most efficient way is to mix salt like 0009010203.... If you know that for some models code usually ends at 0 or at 9.

5870 you have to compare with 6970 not 6950. Anyway, 5870 and 5970 goes better on same clocks than 6970 and 6990.
