This is not a good idea at all. Hashcat already contains a feature to restore a session based on your command line.

If you have the money then yes, 290x is the better choice. I think the figure was 50% more for 35% more speed.

if you had JUST the hash it would be possible. would look something like $2a$10$ or $2y$10$.

Historically, there has been a 8 card limit due to non 64bit BIOS support, so that may be an issue. I would contact SuperMicro and confirm you will not run into that issue. Otherwise, should be fine...

Errors from barswf are not errors from hashcat. You need to run the command from the cli and tell us what it says. If it works then its an issue with the GUI, if it doesn't then we can at least see ...

32bit build? What processor does your mac have? I was under the impression that all mac's were 64bit capable since they switched to intel and never built a 32bit version.
