hashcat does all the salt handling on its own. dont worry about that. just tell it what character space you want to search.

The difference is that mode 10 expects md5($pass.$salt) and 0 expects just md5($pass).
No, but you could use mode 3.
Maybe use ?b for your mask |

should work fine, though it hasnt been well tested. recently we switched to a cross-compiler and stoped using xcode. this could be the root of the problem. |

I would recommend trying different dictionaries. Analyze what you have cracked and look for patterns then run a mask with that. Rules are not the end all be all, sometimes you just have to run a mas... |
