Driver version is your problem. ocl requires 12.8, if it didnt work after downgrade then you uninstalled improperly, or there were files left behind.

New version is working fine for lots of people. It's an issue with your install, or your drivers. No, a timebomb less version will not be released.

bugs are bugs regardless of when it was released. ill take a look and see wtfs up what was your command line and the hashes? I cant reproduce this.

I borked the OS X build. New binary is included in the v0.40 download. Please clear your cache and try again. --stdout should be working as intended again. OS X build was tested on 10.6 and 10.8...

You could roll back your driver version, but newer versions of hashcat may not work.

laptops arent made to sustain high temps that the gpu's will reach. I would advise against it.
