Thread: How to crack custom hash - SHA512, SHA256, and MD5 combined
Post: RE: How to crack custom hash - SHA512, SHA256, and...
John the Ripper has a way to express custom hashes, but I'm not sure that it would support hundreds of them nested.
MDXfind's -i flag can be used to iterate hundreds of times, but only for a given ha... |

Thread: pass:hash output for every candidate
Post: RE: pass:hash output for every candidate
I'm not aware of a way to get hashcat to output *all* candidates - only the actual cracks.
What is your use case for this? |

Thread: pass:hash output for every candidate
Post: RE: pass:hash output for every candidate
Hmm. If hashcat creates different hashes for the same candidates (assuming the same salt), that would be a pretty serious bug.
Generally speaking, you might be able to figure something out using ha... |

Huh, I didn't know this. Not sure what is the best way to express this in the --help output, but it feels important enough to try. |

Thread: Question about --skip and --limit
Post: RE: Question about --skip and --limit
As the number of remaining hashes drops, performance per hash should increase.
In other words, once only one hash remains, performance should be the same as if the target was only a single hash in ... |

Thread: Question about --skip and --limit
Post: RE: Question about --skip and --limit
Huh - fair point!
My understanding of how --restore works is that it's mostly a record of what command-line options were used, for the purpose of reinvoking hashcat. So I think that its application... |

Thread: Weird estimated time
Post: RE: Weird estimated time
The time estimate is accurate. WPA is a slow hash, and you've requested a brute-force attack.
Most of the time, a full brute-force attack like the one you've crafted is a last-resort activity, aft... |

Thread: hashcat 3.60 / hashcat 4.x many hashes
Post: RE: hashcat 3.60 / hashcat 4.x many hashes
I'm not clear from your post which tests are the ones that are for a large number of hashes.
And to clarify, by "Optimized" do you mean that you are using the -O flag? |

Thread: LUKS benchmarks and estimated times
Post: RE: LUKS benchmarks and estimated times
Mode 14600 (LUKS) benches at around 10k H/s on a GTX 1080 with -w 4 and -O.
If you have literally no idea what those 10 characters might be ... it ain't happenin' any time soon. |

Not knowing any better, what is the value in carving up the search space based on human-readable criteria? Why not just use -s/--skip and -l/--limit naturally, and the math like:

Not a lot of options here. The major wrappers and GUIs are tracking the modern/current hashcat.
What's driving your need for this older hashcat version? |
