Post: RE: how did you keep your cards cool ?

Quality air cooling and a big PC case, along with space between the cards. There's a lot of manufacturers, I use the one from Arctic Cooling.

No fast instructions like bfi int and bit align either.

I dont think your GPUs are stable at 940 Mhz, that's why you get bsods.

Then I am pretty sure it's a hardware issue. Triple check all the cables coming to card 3. Does it gets required power from PSU ? Does its fan spin ? Is there some kind of switch to turn off PCI-E...

Post: RE: keplar predictions

If some asian sources prove to be correct, GTX 680's shader domain will be clocked at 1.411Ghz(stock), which will boost MD5 speed to 6.124B p/s. Hopefully they are correct!

Post: RE: kepler predictions

Ok, disappointment number 1: shader clock is no more, shaders run at core clock. Disappointment number 2 (mot confirmed): like FP64 and FP32, integer performance will be 1/2 or 1/4 int ops per shader...

AFAIK, no. The only way to parallelize pluscat or any other cat is to write a script that will split the workload and assign work to every GPU over the network. Or write some kind of framework. A...

If you're comparing the same generation(7xxx, for example), then it's the number of stream processors(shaders) and core clock. The higher, the better.

Post: RE: How many GTX690 can be supported?

Only two GTX 690s are supported for gaming, but not for CUDA. That's what 4-way SLI is all about, but since you're on linux, that's not the case. Should be up to 8 GTX 690, like KT819GM said.

Yup, make sure you red card isn't red because it's hot! Except that, well, you can pick a model with higher vRAM amount, if you're planning to BF huge hashlists. Oh, and core clock affects speed. I...

Post: RE: Why NVidia gpus are slower in computing

True, but only for floats. GeForce GPUs are capped at 12.5% of the DP FP performance, while Tesla GPUs have 50% DP FP perf. Hashcracking does not use floats.

No, it's not a card for gamers (it's sm_35, not sm_21 or sm_30), it's actually the best single GPU graphics card from NV. The speed of the rubber titan with litecat is 5303M p/s, for MD5, for example...

Yeah, a 7970 will be faster than a 5870, it's a better choice. A 7970 is hotter than a 5870 though, by around 20-70W. The higher the core frequency the better, if it stays stable. Noise is usually ...
