Launch openclhashcat with some attack + launch hashcat with some attack. On windows, oclhc almost doesnt use CPU, so you can use hashcat with it, and causing no uneven resource distribution.

You can convert it to hex format and use it right now.

Hmm, I made a SHA-1 of pass "dragon7" - 975e734980efc2a0cf3b3bb3bd6fde89469e86e7 Then I put it into a file hash.txt Then I call Oclhc with this batch file(test.bat), which contains: Code: -- oclHashc...

Pick the amd card. Not only has it more firepower, it doesnt have "innovations" that slow down the speed of hashcracking. Radeon 6850 should also be twice faster than GTX 460.

Yes, 5870 > 6870. 2 * 6870 > gtx 480. Good estimations here (https://www.golubev.com/gpuest.htm)

Or only 12 days 19 hours 51 minutes 47 seconds(approx.) if you have 1 modern high end card(GTX 480, for example).

No problemo! Now that you mentioned buying a new gpu, I'd suggest buying GTX 580. It's currently the fastest Nvidia GPU. It may achieve 6.0B ~ 8.0B p/s for 1 MySQL hash. Which will again reduce ET...

Quality air cooling and a big PC case, along with space between the cards. There's a lot of manufacturers, I use the one from Arctic Cooling.

If it's a WDDM timeout(or no timeout) then it's just long kernel runtimes. Fixed by lowering some settings, like -n and loops. If not, well, HW is unstable. Or the PSU is lousy.

Yeah, the "effective load" of the GPU is lower. It may or may not be connected with the GPU utilization.

Technically this should be possible, but the speeds wont exceed 500M p/s per a PS3. Oh yeah, and there's no ready solution for this. While PS3 may be faster than some CPUs, it's pathetic vs. high-...

Looks like SHA-1. But to know for certain you should provide the source of the hash, like where did you get it from? Otherwise, it's blind guessing.
