Thread: identify hash with duckgoduck
Post: RE: identify hash with duckgoduck
Dislike.
The article was clearly written by an amateur who didn't bother to check the facts and lacks deep understanding of how cryptographic hash functions work.
Not the first, not the last, though... |

First thing, it's a raw wordlist attack, those tend to have lower speeds/utilisation than mutation / brute force attacks.

Did you notice 1/35 segment ?
It splits the wordlist into 35 pieces, loads first, runs attack on it, flushes, loads second, etc. |

So no, you cant do wordlist1 mask1 wordlist2 mask2
If you would do the math, how long would that take, you prolly wouldnt ask.
No goes to rule file too - Oclhashcat isnt designed for it. |

Salt question: Salts: 98117 entries, 97812 unique
You are doing everything right, the speed should be crap. |

It would be good if they raise the limit of properly working GPUs on Windows to 8 too, but without breaking anything again. |

Thread: Infiniband GPU cluster

AFAIK, no.
The only way to parallelize pluscat or any other cat is to write a script that will split the workload and assign work to every GPU over the network.
Or write some kind of framework.

If you're comparing the same generation(7xxx, for example), then it's the number of stream processors(shaders) and core clock.
The higher, the better. |

Yeah, a 7970 will be faster than a 5870, it's a better choice.
A 7970 is hotter than a 5870 though, by around 20-70W.
The higher the core frequency the better, if it stays stable.

Hashcat/Oclhc does not have pre-processing, but that doesn't mean you can't do what you want with the mutation engine.
Use maskprocessor to generate the rules:
