If you have a new CPU you could always use that if there is only 3000 possibilities. Otherwise, maybe take a look at just using the example hash to see if it fails as well.

I'm not sure what you mean by less sophisticated but it's pretty straight forward. WPA/WPA2 has to be 8-length or more, if you're trying to brute force you're more than likely not going to do anything... |
