Thread: Slow VCL performance
Post: RE: Slow VCL performance
Thanks for the reply- I will compare performance with a lower -n value. Would there be any value in going to VCL 1.21?
I noticed that I didn't mention this is a brute-force attack, by the way.
I gue... |

Thread: Slow VCL performance
Post: RE: Slow VCL performance
Interesting results-
-I've reconfigured to run the broker on a compute node with two 7990s
-this connects over gigabit to another compute node with two 6970s
This is a -a 3 -m 500 session (brut... |

Just as an update to my setup and results-

Node 1 - 7990, 6970
Node 2 - 7990, 6970
Network - still dedicated Gb switch

What kind of performance could I expect with disthc running over Infiniband compared to standalone? Is it designed to work over a high speed/low latency link like VCL is, or is it much different?

Thought I'd ask for the new version- are these available to manually distribute load amongst several PCs (since VCL is FUBAR)?
Thanks! |

Thread: Slow VCL speeds
Post: RE: Slow VCL speeds
Just for the record- I've managed to get ~20 000K/sec over gigabit using VCL, which is the speed I was expecting all along. The trick was ramping up the -n value way up- anything under 300 or 400 was ... |

If I watch top, the oclhashcat process just consumes more and more memory, starting at ~15%, and steadily consumes until all is exhausted. The rate is about 2%/hr, if I remember correctly.

Here's another one, not sure if it's possible- I have a long running brute-force attack, and I want to add some GPUs to my VCL cluster.

Quick question-
I've noticed that if I run a salted ($1$salt$hash) md5crypt hash in mask attack, I only get full speed if I run it by itself, with the single-hash optimizer.
If I run it with ano... |
