If it's really only 5000 max possible then just script up something ugly and do it the lame way. It will be FAR slower than hashcat to be sure, but fast enough to get the job done, and much faster tha...

It is strongly recommended that you use use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS which will allow you to use 12.8. This seems to be something of a standard around here, so you'll be better off if you stick with that.
