Post: RE: Dropping a GPU
Thanks man!
But unfortunately, it needs a visible GPU id to reset. (unless I'm missing something) |

I know this is a OpenCL/hardware issue and not a hashcat, but thought you good folks might have some insight.
Quick specs:
Ubuntu 14.x LTS
NVIDIA driver v.375.39
Intel i7-6850, 32 GB RAM
3x EVGA ... |

Thanks for the info. Everything is running well.
(and just a rant: , 3 different 'standards'. Should just use the *nix) |

Thread: Not sure how to crack this
Post: Not sure how to crack this
Hi all.
We have a CNC at work that gets itself into a pickle at times.
We need to access service menus which require a OTP. The MFG has no problem generating/giving us the OTP, but we run 24/7 an... |

That was my thoughts. Just disassemble it. and poke around. But went to install it on a laptop, and it has an activation dealio too. (which is odd/dumb since the software can ONLY work on *their* m... |

Thread: Picky Linux versions still?
Post: Picky Linux versions still?
Been using hashcat since ~1.3 days. Back then installing it was a bit tricky and the 'official guide' was to use Ubuntu Server 12 LTS. (when 14 I think was out)
Is this still the case? I'd li... |

Thread: Spectre/Meltdown patch a prob?
Post: Spectre/Meltdown patch a prob?
Did a quick search and came up blank.
But does the Spectre/meltdown patches effect cracking speeds?
I've heard performance hits all over the place (5%-30%)

For GPU cracking definitely not. For CPU cracking, very likely not. You mostly lose performance when doing IO, which hashcat avoids as much as possible.

Thread: Upgrading system (linux)
Post: Upgrading system (linux)
With the new oclHashcat 1.37, it says it requires catalyst driver 14.9 or higher.
I'm on 14.3 it seems. I'm also on the 'preferred' Ubuntu server 12.04.5 LTS
I really only use this system for ... |
