GPU is massively faster than CPU. Best GPU at the moment is a R9 290x and can do 203,000 on its own with one GPU core.

Also don't forget the Wiki here and the GUI over at hashkiller.co.uk (https://www.hashkiller.co.uk/hashcat-gui.aspx) which isn't supported here.
