i realize this but there aren't any dups in the hash file. also hashcat (cpu) does not behave this way on the same hashfile

shouldn't make a difference but try using a backslash in -r rule\best64.rule instead of the forward slash you have in your command. also try re-down plus and lite directly, not from the GUI versio...

single hd7970 can do it in 16.4hrs. if you have 8x hd7970 cards and assuming the same mask, you can run thru the entire keyspace in 2.8hrs. in practice maybe crack it in 1.4hrs.
