Thread: Need spec assistance on a build
Post: RE: Need spec assistance on a build
also the limit of AMD driver is 8GPU per machine, so your goal of 60,000 M/s won't happen unless the soon to release HD 7990 can get 15,000 M/s per card. |

Thread: Suggestions
Post: RE: Suggestions
if they made desktop motherboards with 8 pcie slots than definitely 8xhd7970 than say 4xhd7990. not to mention you'd have to build a custom case using pcie raiser cables, multiple power supply, etc..... |

Thread: safe temperature?
Post: RE: safe temperature?
you want to monitor VRM as it gets even hotter than GPU. I noticed when voltage is increased on my hd 5970, VRM gets over 100c where GPU temps are around 90c. 100c on VRM is bad. |

Thread: Why NVidia gpus are slower in computing
Post: RE: Why NVidia gpus are slower in computing
correct me if i'm wrong but even their professional cards "quadro, tesla, etc" is slower than AMD cards for hash cracking. regardless if consumer gpus are capped or not, AMD is faster still |

Thread: VLC/IB cluster: SDR vs FDR adapters
Post: RE: VLC/IB cluster: SDR vs FDR adapters
Although I never was able to get it to work, the wiki talks about setting up the broker on a compute node as well. This could eliminate the need to have another server. |

Post: RE: First build, need opinions.
i agree with everyone. single 7970 is more future proof
for hash cracking you don't need a high end CPU or motherboard. can save money in those areas and probably don't need dvd drive. |

best setup would be 4x 7990. because it gives you 8 GPU in a single system without having to go to 4U server chassis |

Thread: How to overclock in multi GPU?
Post: RE: How to overclock in multi GPU?
you can use the aticonfig command. it's something like
aticonfig --adapter=all --odsc=800,1000
where 800 is the gpu clock and 1000 is RAM clock |
