I used a Ryzen 5 2700U in a Thinkpad A485 at work with hashcat for a while, although I did it on Windows. If you are just running straight wordlists it is slow but will thermally be OK for a few hours... |

I have no trouble with -m 2500 on Vega 20 (Radeon VII) and a build of hashcat from git, using ROCm on Linux. I had to build from master to solve this problem in 5.1.0.

1. you're likely not going to get very far with breaking the itunes backup password on a macbook air's internal gpu. it's intensive and slow. note your speed is 0 hashes per second.

the guesses hashcat is making are assuming that the password used for the backup are ones that exist in rockyou.txt. rockyou.txt contains a lot of very simple passwords, so there is no guarantee that ... |

They're largely not worth it, unfortunately. It's probably better to get a 1080Ti than the older Vega cards; cooling wasn't as great and they are on a larger process.
