By restoring the settings I guess you want to be able to set the setting back to its original value. Just backup the config BEFORE applying the patch. eg. for Windows - Backup the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHI...

You can. Check the exit status code and/or output, eg: "no hashes loaded", "hashfile empty or corrupt" etc.

To refresh status without pressing 's', add Code: -- --status --status-timer=X -- where X is the number of seconds between 2 refresh. To display only Candidates, you'll need to grep on output.

You can give the name and extension you want. Commonly it's called hashes.txt because it's a list of hashes in a t(e)xt format.. But you can rename it baby.exe it will be the same for hashcat.
