I haven't installed any other drivers than Catalyst 12.8. I've just reinstalled AMD App SDK (same version) and then it started showing this message.

No, I've reinstalled exact version. Well, I found out that I have to reinstall my graphics drivers after reinstalling AMD App SDK. Now, everything works fine.

Well, in my opinion, Backtrack is not a good choice at all. Backtrack, even its latest version is based on pretty old version of Ubuntu (it's linux 2.6, isn't it first Ubuntu release version 4.10 ? :D...

Well, then just start hashcat with standart amount of 8 threads (don't force number of threads with -n or --threads) and let us know how it's going.

Yes it's very likely. But linux is getting faster and it interacts better with hardware with every release. Would be good to try.
