Memory size and performance are not an issue in hashcat. That leaves you with only 4096 cores and a comparable performance like a Vega 64 for a price of 4x GTX1080i.

Yes. And that specific model is not very optimal for hashcracking.

Then you should seriously keep temps under 90 or better 85°. The heat needs to get out of the chassis. Is it a standard 290x with radial cooler? Or some OEM model?

Post: RE: Hashing Test leaves GPU at 95° C

The clock rate is not as important as the yoltage. You need to underclock the GPUs, so you can lower the voltage of the cards. It should drop under 1.25v for the 290x, save would be 1.2v to get a stea...

The key is the 12V-line on your PSU. It should have the necessary GPU power plus 50% safety margin. The GPU power is defined by its TDP. If you don't tweak with it that's pretty accurate - at least fo...

The CPU is fine. But your PSU is not powerful enough for a Radeon 280x. That beast alone can draw ~300W under hashcat and would burn a 350W power supply almost instantly. If you're on a budget, try...
