You're on the right track. Although: How much room you leave for future system upgrades is up to you. There are anyway more important questions: How often and/or how long should this rig run with Hash... |

Thread: Advice on HP Nvidia Tesla K40 GPUs
Post: RE: Advice on HP Nvidia Tesla K40 GPUs
Since the new Super-series just arrives with a significant price drop over its predecessor i'd go for two GTX2070 Super. They deliver 3/4 performance of two normal GTX 2080 at 2/3 of their price. And ... |

I would say it's all in the price and availability. If money isn't an issue or you can get both for the same price, go for the Vega 64.

Thread: AMD Radeon R290 - 14.4 Unsupported Driver?
Post: RE: AMD Radeon R290 - 14.4 Unsupported Driver?
Whyever AMD does that, but this is correct. The 14.4 driver shows as 14_10 in the device manager, the 14.7 shows as 14_20. Same over here and totally correct. 14.7 is just the package number including... |

Thread: AMD Radeon VII benchmarks(?)
Post: RE: AMD Radeon VII benchmarks(?)
Ether is just one hash algorithm and it prefers AMDs architecture. Plus fast memory, while hashcat does not. Not comparable at all.
I'd be surprised if the Radeon VII will be on par with the RTX2080.... |

I'm afraid it is just a die shrink, since the architecture behind is still GCN5, although a bit tweaked. And again, faster and bigger memory is almost irrelevant for hashcat.

Post: RE: AMD Radeon VII benchmarks(?)
You're cherry picking. As mentioned, Etherum takes a big profit out of fast memory. Meaningless for hashcat.
The 2080 tops out at 225W if not tweaked. No idea how you manage to see it anywhere clos... |

Memory size and performance are not an issue in hashcat. That leaves you with only 4096 cores and a comparable performance like a Vega 64 for a price of 4x GTX1080i. |
