Yea that is what I was kinda afraid of. Good on OCLHashcat-plus that is what I am using. I just found it was weird it would take a rule, but didn't appear to apply it.

Would you need to leave a 2 slot gap or could you get by with just one? This way you could do more cards assuming the catalyst driver is still working with more than 8 GPUs per machine.

I just saw once it was suppose to work with more than 8, but I haven't actually attempted to use more than 8.

I would be interested to know the results. That could make the Tyan chassis with 7990s ideal.(assuming you can keep them cool)

The 7990 is just two 7970 chips on one card. The performance results are similar to two 7970s if you want to get an idea.

I would maybe spend just a couple more dollars and get a little better motherboard, one that accepts two full size slots for GPUs, that way if you want to add another in the future you will be good. ...

Any worthwhile GPU is going to be two slots wide and require a x16 length slot, throughput doesn't matter just as long as it is the correct length. Looks like the max you could do assuming all of you...

The 9970 is a new chipset coming out from AMD. From what I understand it is basically a 7990 in one chip instead of two. I don't think they have set a release date yet just specs have been published...

I have been using hashcat utils(combinator.bin) to combine two dictionaries and piping it into plus to be able to add rules to the combination. This is working fine, however, it would be nice to see ...

Agreed, the 7990s are very hard to cool. I have a box with 2x 7970s and 1x 7990. I was easily able to keep the 7970s cool until of course I added the 7990, then the heat went up all around. The 799...

Thanks, I am guessing mine second runs a bit hotter since I have the GPUs installed vertically vs horizontally. I am thinking the hot air from the first one is going straight up into the second one.
