Understood, again, how to keep those at proper temps without liquid cooling...escapes me since one 7990 is lake a blast furnace. And I assume the slots don't allow for a lot of airflow when they are stacked 4 in a case..

Agreed, the 7990s are very hard to cool. I have a box with 2x 7970s and 1x 7990. I was easily able to keep the 7970s cool until of course I added the 7990, then the heat went up all around. The 7990 pours a ton of heat into the box and if you do not have real strong fans to push that hot air out, there is going to be trouble. I currently have 510 CFM coming into the box direct intake from the A/C and I am still running in the upper 70s / lower 80s and that is with one space between cards. The 7990 seems to respond well to lower ambient air temps so the colder you can get the room the better.
