v0.14 working but unable to quit or exit the program
#1
I'm running v0.14 of oclHashcat-plus64.bin on BackTrack5 r3 Linux with two GPUS: a 6870 and a 5870. The program basically works beautifully and responds to status checks. It also finds WPA2 keys when there is a dictionary match.

The problem is that the program will not exit or allow me to quit once it has started. I've tried tuning the GPU settings but to no avail. Setting -n to 1 will allow me to exit maybe 1 in 4 attempts but I usually have to reboot in order to re-run hashcat. The rest of my system is unaffected. Even after exhausting a dictionary list, the program will not exit. A dump of my command prompt is below and I would appreciate any suggestions.

Some additional testing results:
- Running the same test on my Windows 7 x64 partition yields the same unresponsive behavior with the .exe version of the program
- If I remove one of the cards and just test with the 6870, everything works normally.

Is this a common issue with multiple GPUs or dissimilar GPUs?

Shouldn't be, but I cant be sure, AMD is known for their driver mischief.

Downclock your HD5xxx card. It causes ASIC hang because of too low vcore voltage or wrong bios.
#5
yep, 5xxx series was super prone to ASIC hangs with even mild overclocking. there's not much headroom on those cards. i don't go higher than 880 Mhz on my 5870s, and that's with overvolting.

You guys rock! I backed off the 5870 clock and oclhashcat+ works flawlessly now. My changes:

HD5870 Before:
Core: 850 MHz
Memory: 1200

After:
Core: 800 MHz
Memory: 1100 Mhz

Quit works fine and both cards showing engaged, That 5870 is a fast little beast.
